Terri writes books that are paranormal mysteries. Books that are right up my alley. I love this series, as I do any series I put on here..yes, I do find some have slightly more detail than others, but this is a simple series, with great description, and the characters are written so well, you will love reading about what they do.
Mary is a PI. She was previously a detective in the Chicago police dept. Mary has a talent for seeing the dead, and the dead seek her out. If she's asleep, she can wake up to one standing beside her bed, because they need help. Mary has a few friends that she is very close to, and then there's the ghost/spirits. Once she figures out what they want, they tend to move on. There is one that didn't leave...and finally became a guardian angel by the Will of God to protect Mary's step daughter, Clarissa. Mary and Bradley (who is the police chief) get married in book 9 I believe...Veiled Passages.
Characters in this series is Mary, the star, Bradley, at first a skeptic-now husband, Ian a paranormal investigator from Scotland, Mike, the dead fireman-turns guardian angel, Rosie and Stanley, Mary's closest friends who also later on get married. Mary's brother Sean is a cop in Chicago and mentioned more than the rest of her family, but her family are included in this book. Clarissa, Bradley's daughter, has been through some deaths in her life, and starts out very critical of Mary and Bradley for that matter.
Inside of all the family business going on, there's always a mystery taking place. Sometimes the living are searching for answers to a loved one's passing, and sometimes the dead themselves seek out Mary. She has the ability to talk to them, and to see them, and if Bradley touches her while ghosts are around, he can see them as well.
Mary tends to do some dangerous stuff on her own, which usually gets her in deep trouble, but Mike is there to help protect her. Mike is full of humor and thinks alot of himself...dead or alive. He feels he's a good looking man that died too early. Rosie and Stan are protectors of Mary and her family. They are an older couple. Stan is set in his ways and stubborn, not to mention says what's on his mind.
These people all bring a smile to my face. I love the interactions involved between all of them. I love that they love each other, and will do whatever needs done to live a happy life, including finding out who killed the dead, and not to mention the people out to kill them at times because of all the secrets they uncover. 4.5 stars all day long...love this series!
Below are some of the series, I am not sure what order they should be in and I apologize for that, but Amazon.com can help you with that...just search Terri Reid (Mary O'Reilly series in order). Also, remember, I said these are some..there are many books, I believe 14 in this series.
